For they say same things touch your heart and somethings touch your soul. Sanju did both.
We obviously went to the cinema with high expectations as the trailer had already set a benchmark. But what we saw on big screen was beyond our imagination.
Sitting through a three hour long movie without failing to lose even a minute of interest is an achievement in itself! The director Raj Kumar Hirani deserves all the praise in the world for his movie doesn’t lose its grip for even a second.
The movie is an actual celebration of Sanjay Dutt and his amazing spirit with how he has lived through so much. We don’t think there is anyone as stronger as him. We still can’t comprehend how he has made it through life.
Ranbir Kapoor is, wait was he in the film?
Exactly, Ranbir Kapoor is nowhere in the film.
It’s all Sanjay Dutt.
We don’t think there can be a bigger compliment for an actor than saying that nobody saw, felt or believed that he was in the movie. It was just the character he had slipped in. Ranbir made us live Sanjay Dutt’s life, sympathise with his trials but most importantly made us love Sanjay Dutt even more. We can very proudly say that there is no actor in the world who could have done Sanju better than Ranbir. Maybe not even Sanjay Dutt himself!
Dia Mirza as Sanjay’s wife, Anushka Sharma as Raj Kumar Hirani’s character, Manishq Koirala as Nargis Dutt were all super exceptional!
However two other most integral actors and highly apt in their characters were Vicky Kaushal as Kamli and the actor par excellence Paresha Rawal as Mr. Sunil Dutt. We cried everytime they were onscreen with Sanju, we just couldn’t help it.
On whole, Sanju is not a film, its an experience. An experience to live Sanjay Dutt’s life through screen in three hours. It leaves us numb, grateful and above all gives us courage to live on no matter how many lemons life throw at you.
At the end of the film, with tears in eyes everyone just feels like giving a Jaadu ke Jhappi to Sanjay Dutt, for what he has suffered, no one could have!
Not going with any stars as we feel giving stars to this movie will be disgracing it. Go watch it because you’ll regret if you miss this one.
