The leading stars of Sanam Teri Kasam have run into controversy, as lead actor Harshvardhan Rane publicly declined to reprise his role in the sequel of the movie—if the original cast, particularly Mawra Hocane, is repeated. His decision came in response to Hocane’s political statements during recent India-Pakistan tensions. Mawra called back the bollywood actor stating that there are far greater things to be discussed than using the current situation for personal gains!
On Instagram, Rane issued a clear message:
“While I am grateful for the experience, however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated.”
This came after Mawra Hocane posted a tweet condemning an alleged Indian attack on Pakistan, stating:
“Strongly condemn India’s cowardly attack on Pakistan… Innocent civilians have lost their lives… May Allah protect us all… may sense prevail.”
In response, Rane reposted her statement with sharp criticism:
“I respect all artists and humans of this country, that country, Kenya and even Mars, but this kind of derogatory remarks about my country by anyone is unpardonable.”
He further added:
“I’m okay with losing out on followers on Instagram, but won’t allow anyone to walk over the pride and upbringing… Standing by your country is good, but disrespectful, hateful remarks about other country is not.”
However, the situation intensified when Mawra clapped back in a strongly-worded response. On her Instagram, she wrote:
“Making such announcements at this volatile time, it’s both shameful & bizarre to see you so hungry and desperate… Our countries have been at war… this is not the time to mock one another… only goes to show your ignorance in such a sensitive situation.”
She added, “I guess it’s not just your news media that’s gone bonkers.”
Fans are now witnessing not just a cinematic breakup, but a clash of ideologies. While Rane stands firm on patriotism, Mawra emphasizes unity and timing, calling out what she sees as opportunistic behavior and using fragile situations for personal gains!
