Amal Clooney, the only Pakistani this year who made a stunning solo appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, attending the premiere of Bono: Stories of Surrender on May 16, 2025. The human rights lawyer and fashion icon turned heads in a vintage black silk gown from John Galliano’s era at Christian Dior. The off-the-shoulder dress featured a sweetheart neckline and a dramatic train, exuding old Hollywood glamour.

Clooney’s choice of attire subtly defied the festival’s newly implemented dress code, which discourages voluminous outfits and long trains that might obstruct guest movement and seating. Despite this, her ensemble was met with widespread acclaim, highlighting her ability to blend elegance with a touch of rebellion.

Attending without her husband, George Clooney, who is currently performing on Broadway, Amal was seen alongside her close friend Bono, the subject of the documentary. Her presence added star power to the event.

Later that evening, Clooney changed into a sparkling gold mini dress adorned with sequins and crystals for an after-party, further showcasing her versatile style.
