During a recent session of Pakistan’s National Assembly, PTI Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel sparked controversy by directing vulgar language towards Defense Minister Khawaja Asif. Mastikhel’s derogatory remarks deviated from parliamentary norms, prompting National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to swiftly suspend him from the session.

The incident underscores a critical issue within legislative proceedings: the essential requirement for maintaining respectful communication and decorum. As the cornerstone of Pakistan’s legislative process, the National Assembly should exemplify civility and sophisticated debate. Mastikhel’s outburst not only disrupted proceedings but also underscored the urgent need for parliamentarians to uphold decorum and mutual respect, regardless of political affiliations.

‘Oye Khawaja’, said the PTI MNA as he further used foul language to address the Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif.

“Hum Awaam ka vote le ke atay hain, hum *beep* chuk ke nahi atay”, he added

During Mastikhel’s speech, there was hooting from PTI side and cries of resignation from the opposite side. The suspension by Speaker National Assembly serves as a clear message that such behavior carries consequences and is incompatible with the responsibilities of parliamentary representation. It is crucial for all members of parliament to recommit themselves to fostering an atmosphere of respect and professionalism to effectively serve the nation’s interests.
