Recently, Sajal Aly, a renowned Pakistani actress got candid in an interview, where she highlighted the concept of how marriage is labelled as the supreme most aim in a girl’s life by our society.
Sajal contradicted with the idea by sharing that girls should not be brought up constantly being fed with the thought that they have to get ready to get married and make a family regardless of their education and other perspectives that shape their life.
This is something girls are often told in our society: no matter how educated they are, they eventually have to get married and have a family and kids, which I don’t think is wrong,” she said.
She emphasized on how much importance education holds in shaping one’s self. It makes them learn and come to terms with many concepts that will help them get through in life.
“I feel marriage is a beautiful thing, but yes, if you have a partner in your life who supports you, then I don’t think marriage will be difficult for you.”
Girls should also be appreciated for their academic and professional achievements and should be encouraged to do things that please them rather then just feeding their minds with the idea that the crux of their life is all just about marriage. This selective perception deprives them of their ability to make decisions and due to this there are still many women out there who tolerate abusive marriages and loose their own identity.
