Myths About Covid-19 Vaccine

Now is the time when the entire world is getting the vaccine because that is the only solution to eradicate the virus and allow this pandemic to end. Although vaccine is essential for safety against Covid – 19, there are several myths which may distract some people changing their decision to not get the vaccine. However, we are here to provide the facts.

Myth 1 – If I already have gotten Covid – 19 Virus, I do not need the vaccine.
Fact: It is true that those who have gotten the Covid – 19 virus develop antibodies but it is still essential that people get the vaccine because it is a fact that there are chances of reinfection. To avoid that, vaccine must be injected even if someone already had covid – 19.

Myth 2 – Covid – 19 vaccine affects the fertility of women.

Fact: The COVID-19 vaccine will not affect fertility. The truth is that the COVID-19 vaccine encourages the body to create copies of the spike protein found on the coronavirus’s surface. This “teaches” the body’s immune system to fight the virus that has that specific spike protein on it. Getting COVID-19, on the other hand, can have potentially serious impact on pregnancy and the mother’s health.

Myth 3 – Getting the COVID-19 vaccine gives you COVID-19.
Fact: The vaccine for COVID-19 cannot and will not give you COVID-19. The vaccine instructs your cells to reproduce a protein that is part of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which helps your body recognize and fight the virus, if it comes along. The COVID-19 vaccine does not contain the SARS-Co-2 virus, so you cannot get COVID-19 from the vaccine. The protein that helps your immune system recognize and fight the virus does not cause infection of any sort.

Myth 4 – The COVID-19 vaccine enters your cells and changes your DNA.

Fact: COVID-19 vaccines do not change or interact with your DNA in any way. COVID-19 vaccines deliver instructions (genetic material) to our cells to start building protection against the virus that causes COVID-19. However, the material never enters the nucleus of the cell, which is where our DNA is kept. This means the genetic material in the vaccines cannot affect or interact with our DNA in any way. All COVID-19 vaccines work with the body’s natural defenses to safely develop immunity to disease.
